All five of us were finally reunited after 2 years of not all being together. My one sister lives in Alaska and with the pandemic travel was not possible for her to visit before. Luckily everything worked out and we all were able to meet up in Florida for Christmas 2021. I do know it is March now but better writing this and reliving the vacation now than never. We did not go out or get dressed up much this trip because we had a pool and the beach, so our bikinis became our daily outfit. Whenever we did go out I made sure to capture the moment and outfits that we were in.
I overpacked per usual and had so many outfits planned that I never ended up wearing. The week of relaxation in comfy clothes and bikinis was well worth it though. We were able to get family pictures in coordinating outfits and put on cute outfits when we went out shopping. It did go that whenever we bought something at the store we would want to wear that instead of what we had packed.
I love taking photos on the beach and it worked out that we needed new family photos. We went with the classic blue and white color scheme for the photos. Even though this color scheme is basic I do think it is a classic look that matches the ocean and seaside vibes. I wore a cap sleeve dress that made me feel so pretty and effortless, both of my sisters and my mom wore white tops (one top was from my suitcase and something I wore a few days before for shopping), and my dad wore a blue button up with some jeans. There weren't too many people on the beach so we didn't have too hard of a time with people in the background. The photos came out great and we now have updated photos of the family to hang up around the house.
Destin has quite a few outlet malls that we as a family love going to. Pretty much the only reason we put on actual clothes during the vacation besides a few dinners. Below is what my sisters and I wore to go shop 'til we dropped. Going to Florida you expect warm weather but in December that just isn't the case.
With that being said I still wanted to wear this romper that I thrifted because I bought it specifically for this trip. I layered it over a black turtleneck, paired it with high rise socks, my Air Force 1's, and finished off the look with a black headband. One of my sisters wore a mauve cowl neck tank that I bought her as a present, some distressed Wild Fable jeans, and rubber sandals. My other sister wore a monochromatic tan outfit. She layered a tan sweater vest over a tan long sleeve and accessorized with tan boots, gold necklace, and headband. We have both been loving the headband trend lately.
Time to go out to dinner, we went to a Chinese/sushi restaurant in town that used to be located on the boardwalk. My one sister just wore the same outfit that she had on for shopping but my other sister and I changed clothes. I wore this oversized short sleeve sweater that is one of my all time favorite things I've thrifted, I wear it so often it's criminal. I paired it with some straight leg jeans because they are so comfortable, and some rubber slides. My hair was a mess from being in the pool after shopping so a messy bun with a bow is what I came up with. My other sister wore a maroon velvet tee underneath black overalls with some sandals. Of course we had to get our classic sister pic with our tattoos, we haven't been able to do it in so long.
Another day/night out on the town before hitting the beach and pool. It seems each day we went out we stuck to a consistent color scheme. I'm wearing a white top that's perfect for Florida weather because it isn't too hot or cold. It's also the same shirt that my sister wore for family photos days later. I wore straight leg jeans once again and black sandals. My one sister wore a black and white stripe crop long sleeve shirt, distressed jeans, and black sandals. My other sister wore her new pink shacket she bought from American Eagle the day before when we went shopping, a white tank top, mom jeans, and some black sandals. We kept it casual and comfortable for our day of shopping and exploring the city.
I'm excited to go back to Florida in a couple of months but unfortunately we will be one sister short because she is back at work in Alaska. I'm looking forward to feeling the sand between my toes once again. We shall see how many outfits I actually wear on that trip.
So happy to hear the family was able to see each other at the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas. Love to you all, from cousin Kim Vogelpohl-Hummel (Bev’s daughter)
