It’s finally October and officially the best time of the year, spooky season! I am so excited for the temperatures to drop, the leaves to change, and to partake in all of the fall activities. This is the most fun time of the year in my opinion. I live for a pumpkin patch and fall weather, why can’t they be year round? It is also when I get to put my creative hat on and create different costumes that I get to share with all of you during the weeks leading up to Halloween! I hope you are as excited as I am for what is to come this year on the blog! Starting off the season strong is my strawberry costume.

I love a DIY which is why I like doing these blog posts so much. Sure you can go out and buy a costume from the store or even better online and never have to leave the house but what is the fun in that? For the first costume of the year I decided to create a strawberry costume. I was looking forward to creating this costume until I found out just how difficult it was to find the perfect red dress for my vision. I ended up searching high and low for the red dress and finally found it at Target. It ended up working perfectly and allowed me to execute what was in my head.

To make the seeds of the costume I just used white felt. I made a stencil for the shape and just kept cutting them out until my fingers hurt. To attach them to my dress I used double sided tape. I knew I didn’t want to completely ruin the dress because I might want to wear it in the future or possibly use it next year for a different costume idea. I wore the red dress with the seeds, white boots, a green bow for the stem, red press on nails, and a strawberry necklace I made.

My favorite part of any Halloween costume has to be the makeup. It is what really ties the entire look and idea together. I saw this strawberry makeup on Pinterest and knew I needed to recreate it for this costume. I started with using a variety of green eyeshadow to imitate the leaves of the strawberry. To get the redness of the fruit I used an insane amount of blush but honestly loved how it turned out! I made my lips have a red berry tint and then drew on some seeds that looked like freckles from a far. I am proud of how it turned out and it really elevated this costume. I like doing fun makeup during Halloween because my normal every day makeup is boring and it’s nice to switch it up.

Ahhhh I’m so excited that spooky season is officially here, even though my house has been decorated for a month…oops, and I get to share all my costume ideas with you. These are fun for me and I hope they bring you inspiration. It’s never too early to start planning your costume! I can’t wait for you to see what is in store next week. Until then, stay spooky!
