October is here and it's the best time of the year! Get ready for a new Halloween costume idea each week leading up to Halloween. These blog posts are so much fun for me so I hope you enjoy them.
It’s the year of Barbie! So excited to start this Spooktober off with a costume of a figure that has been an icon for years. Barbie’s magic has swept the nation and I imagine it will be the costume of the year. There are so many Barbie options so all you have to do is pick your favorite and go have fun.
For this costume I wore a pink dress that had puffy pink tulle sleeves and skirt, nude heels, and a pink bow and other accessories. This outfit made me feel extremely girly and pretty. When I think Barbie I think pink so that is what I went with for this costume idea. There are so many ways to customize and make the costume perfect for you.
Let’s go into detail about this costume that I put together. For the main component of the outfit I knew I wanted something fluffy and most definitely pink. I found this dress on Shein, originally for the Taylor Swift concert but ended up saving it for this costume. I wore a pair of nude heels that I’ve had for years to keep the footwear simple and the main focus on the dress. I added a pink bow to my half up half down curled ponytail. I also sprayed my hair and outfit with glitter spray to make the outfit a little more magical.
I wore some vintage silver rings that I got from a vintage market I go to each year. For my earrings I wore some little pink butterflies to really play up the girly features of Barbie. My makeup was heavily pink with my eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick.
The best hack I have learned is how to make a new lipstick shade if you don't have it in your collection. Any eyeshadow can be turned into a lipstick and that's exactly what I did for this costume. I was able to get the perfect bright pink lipstick by putting eyeshadow on my lips and then adding a gloss. This hack really comes in handy during the Halloween season.
This dress is the perfect dress to spin around in and feel pretty like a Barbie. Another fun Barbie to dress up as is workout Barbie so I was torn when deciding which costume to do. I really like how this costume came together and can't wait to see how many people choose to be Barbie this year and turn the streets into Barbieland for real. Barbie is not only known for the pink but because of the strong message of being strong and dreaming big and chasing your dreams. That's why Barbie has been so present in the world and truly iconic since the creation in 1959. Dream big and channel your inner Barbie.
I hope you all enjoyed this and use it to fuel your inspiration for your Halloween costume this year! There are so many ideas out there that it is hard to pick just one so I'm glad I have this blog to do not just one costume but five costumes this year. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with and I'm excited to share my ideas with you all Spooktober long!
